Astig Boys vs Kambing Inc

ronnie vs aldrich; can they back up the talk?

Ronnie and Aldrich had been going back and forth in The DUB League group chat the last few days aiming their sites on each other. These two players had been talking smack and showed too much bravado in their convo. But, who can back up their words?

Ronnie and the Kambings won in Week 1 against the Senior Citizens but not without a near heart attack. Jeff Duria and Ronnie Tallud figured out to be a hard combo to beath finishing with 20 and 17 points, respectively for the Kambings. Bombi Toves fresh from his trip from the USFBA Tournament in Chicago provided a solid backcourt support with Paolo Olea, Robin Tallud and Michael Apaga. Neil Cristobal, Andrei Malacapy and James Bandolon beat up the opposing big men in Week 1. This gave the Kambings a complete lineup to compete this season.

Meanwhile, The Astig Boys lose mightily in Week 1 due to playing only 4 players against the Underdogs. Aldrich and Aldrin, however, will come back this week and aiming to get their first win of the season. Rommel Calaguas will still man the paint while Noel Bagalso will also play for the first time this season boosting up the backcourt with Phoenix Galing and Cris Dapoin. Jesse Roque, Tito Galing, and Chris B will provide the much needed veteran support for the Astigs.

Who will eat their words after the game? Who can actually walk the talk? Who will bite the dust in this matchup?

Barakos vs Senior Citizens

age vs youth; can barakos win over senior citizens

Youth is something that cannot be taught. It only happened once in your life. OGs used to be young, athletic, and strong in their youth also but Father Time caught up to them. The mighty Barakos who are brimming with youth and athleticism will go against the OGs of Harry Stone, Senior Citizens, in this classic matchup of Youth vs Age – Athleticism vs Experience – Fitness Center vs Chinese Buffett.

Fresh from their win against Team Pogi, the Barakos are looking to get their Win #2 over the Senior Citizens. Their accurate 3-point shooting in Week 1 destroyed Team Pogi as they hit shot after shots just when the “gwapings” were catching up. They also had their one-two combo of athletic bigs in Bryan Lim and Mico Mercado. Guards Neil Bagalso, Steven San Nicolas, Yuhenyo Giron, and Yoneo Gamalinda were all hitting their shots from beyond the arc while showing off a very efficient passing game. Dave Go, John Dahan and Melchor Dupale provided the much needed support from the bench by keeping Team Pogi at bay in Week 1.

The Seniors, on the other hand, suffered their first loss under Jeff and the Kambings, not before giving them a scare by getting close enough to win the game. Juan Gutierrez, last season’s MVP and finals MVP, was amazing in leading the team along with new Splash Brothers Aaron Cua and Orlando Glory. Arvin Dela Cruz, Bhon Filomeno, Raffy Filomeno, and Brian Filomeno provided the shooting from beyond the arch while Ahwin Adricula and Lito Matildo provided front court help.

Will the Seniors experience make a difference? Or will the Barakos youth dominate?

Watch and learn.

The Underdogs vs Kuya Cats

Kuyacats no fluke in week 1; the underdogs runnin’ high

In a much anticipated matchup in Week 2, the defending champions, Kuya Cats, will be playing against the fastbreak crazy and high energy machine of The Underdogs. This matchup will feature two different styles of play with the Kuya Cats inside outside game against The Underdogs fast-paced, high octane offense that is anchored by Rodfil Camacho.

The Kuya Cats validated their title as champions in their Week 1 win over the Balut All Stars by playing lockdown defense down the stretch and staving off the “eggies” rally. The ‘Cats will rely on their bigs Frankie Mesa and Mohammed Karim to man the paint again in this Week 2 matchup while Gil Mandabon, CJ Luna and Matea Mandabon will provide the outside shooting for the team. Dillon Pineda, Cy Real, Renz Villanueva, and Devan Mesa will provide the athletic backcourt that can matchup against The Underdogs guards.

Meanwhile, The Underdogs notched their first win against the Astig Boys who missed their main players Aldrin Acuna and Aldrich Acuna in a whopping 94-57 win, the biggest in The DUB League history. Rodfil Camacho and Al Bae provided the fast break action along with Rodje Villa, JR Sunga, and Aldwin Brotonel athleticism and sweet shooting. Jun Centeno was also sensational in the paint dominating the unmanned Astig Boys. Philip Autencio, Oliver Poblete and Aris Aguirre will provide the veteran presence.

Also, the little birds say that Kyle Aguirre will play for the first time this season against the champs.

Will this game be a blowout again? Or will this go down the wire?

Which style of play will prevail? KuyaCats or The Underdogs?

Abangan.

Pogi vs Balut All Stars

balut allstars gunning for win; can team pogi stop them?

There is a brewing question among the teams about the Talent that Balut All Stars have in the team. High energy workhorses Eric Pranivong and Patrick Corpuz led the “eggies” onto a near win against the highly touted defending champions KuyaCats. On the other hand, Team Pogi is still trying their chemistry as they are battling with age, although, they are not lacking in talent.

CK Arcilla, Loven Villanueva, and Cyrel Legaspi will provide the backcourt presence for the “eggies” while Chester Timbol, high octane Jingson Morales, Nervin Metrillo, and Richard Osay will provide the much needed support in the front court. The Balut All Stars rely heavily on their accurate 3 point shooting and fast ball movement in their loss confusing the erstwhile KuyaCats before they ran out of gas in the end.

Eric Pranivong scored 20 points and notched 5 rebounds while Patrick Corpuz has 12 points and 7 rebounds in that game. Will they be able to duplicate that effort in this game? Expect a much better ball movement and scoring from the Balut All Stars in Week 2.

Meanwhile, Team Pogi showed up like a team who had seen each other for the first time – rusty, slow, uncoordinated. The bright spots, however, are Michael Humphrey who scored 15 points and CJ Pineda who tallied 16 points in their loss to the Barakos in Week 1.They fell behind as much as 20 points in the game and came back to as close as 7 points before the Barakos pulled away.

Conrad Wolfe, GJ Eva, Gerard Areja, and Mark Lim provided the much needed support but the Barakos were just too quick, too fast, and too young.

Rumor has it that Joseph Brimon will be joining the pack this weekend. Will his presence in the middle help beef up both sides of the court for the “gwapings”?

This is a matchup that you would like to see coming in to Week 2.
