Soju Bombers vs Average Kuyas

bad kuyas vs good kuyas

Not really sure if this is an appropriate title for this game preview but it might be close. The SOJU Bombers will look to bounce back this week after a close game vs Thundercats last weekend. It was a game to win for the Bombers but they let the ‘Cats steal that one away. Meanwhile, the Average Kuyas are on a two game losing streak and will also look to bounce back.

GOOD KUYAS. The Average Kuyas were not necessarily that average in their style of play but their demeanor and soft spoken-ness can give you the impression that they are timid. They are the good kuyas because of this and had been upstanding citizens in the last 3 weeks. No crazy tantrums over calls, no screaming, no taunting during the games. Cris Dapon, their fearless leader, is still shooting lights out and had been instrumental in orchestrating their plays. Jordan Rey is unstoppable and plays like a juggernaut as he can bring the ball up and down the court. Gerard Nicasio was a great addition and can run the lanes and play very good defense for the Kuyas. Jawo Feniquito is a solid guard and had been amazing for the Kuyas and will look again to get the other team guessing on his play. Eyey Amparo, Mark Regondola, and Roy Lor are solid players and can contribute in both ends anytime. Jacob Felquir is still trying to find his game in this team after being out in the first 2 weeks. Melchor Dupale is still your dangerous sniper and can hit long bombs when you are not looking.

BAD KUYAS. No amount of hangover can get these guys down and from playing on Saturdays. Soju Bombers as the name implies tells you that this team likes to have fun. Even the oldies wanna join in the party (IF only the Commanders in their house will allow it). The favorite beverage from what I gather are White Claws. I don’t even know what is but it sounds like this can really bog you down. Gabe Gaw, Cyrel Legaspi, and Andrei Malacapay will look for a bounce back game. Dillon Pineda will be suiting up this weekend after watching his team lose in Week 3. Aiden Oham is a gem on the pain and had been the relentless rebounder and defensive presence on the paint. Steven Nicolas, Philip Autencio and Eric Natividad will look to have “green light” from all spots in the player. Cupid Musa will be manning the defense Cris Dapon for sure.

Will the “mga masamang damo” win over the battle of who is the better kuya?

Tipoff is at 1230pm on April 13, 2024.

Gym Rats vs The Big Chili

FAST PACED; NO HOLDS BARRED

The Big Chili had been on a 3 game losing streak but their last game may show signs that they had turned a corner. The team was able to get the Sini Gang at bay for 90% of the game until they ran out of gas. Meanwhile, the Gym Rats just came back from their biggest win in the season so far over the Lord of the Rings. The ‘Rats were running like a well oiled machine, juiced up, and ready to go making LOTR looked like Seniors last weekend.

The Big Chili will rely on CK Arcilla who had his career high of 33 points over Sini Gang. Bombi Toves is rumored to come back this week. If its anything, this two guards had to learn how to play together in order have a chance against the rats. The team was playing beautifully and they outhustled the Sini Gang last week with unselfish playmaking and on-time scoring. John Dahan, Mitchell Salas, and GJ Eva were amazing last weekend and will look to replicate their play. Gerry Areja and Jun Gustilo will continue to provide veteran support off the bench. Orlando Mortel will be looking to have another solid weekend. Joseph Brimon will sit this one out as he had to travel out of the country.

The Gym Rats are just pesky, annoying, and fast – literally like rats. They are all over the court. They go after the basketball like its a ball of cheese. The trio of Cy Real, Gerard Itao, and Renz Villanueva had been providing headaches for opposing teams as these athletic guards are relentless on both ends of the court. PJ Dacones who came back after many years of hiatus has not lose a step and is still one of the primary weapons for the ‘Rats. Mo Karim also showed why he is one of the premier players in the league last weekend on both offense and defense playing vs Juan Gutierrez. Newcomer Victor Dungca had been solid for the Rats and provide that wing scoring that they need as well as on ball defense. Ja Aloy, Joel Recinto, Jun Rey Cabarrubias completes the capable bench for the Rats.

Will the Chilis win this week? Or will the ‘Rats just eat their lunch?

Swoosh Bros vs Lord of the Rings

#stopswooshbros?

The Swoosh Bros will be tested this weekend as they face off against the Lord of the Rings who dropped another game last week. While the ‘Bros were flying sky high, the Lords looked more like Senior Citizens rather than the ring owners.

Juan Gutierrez and Ronnie Tallud is the LOTR’s dynamic duo with Robin Tallud providing that third option. Neil Bagalso had been MIA the last couple of weeks but he might be due to come back this weekend. Yoneo Gamalinda is a terrific player player to compliment Juan and Ronnie. The missing link the past couple of weeks are the bench player production. Aside from Arvin Dela Cruz 5 3pointers on Week 2, the bench play had been dead silent except David Go who provides that rebounding and defense. Angelo Dela Cruz is also out of sync but may be due for a rebound game on Week 4. Nilo Concepcion is still a solid big man for the LOTRs while Jingson Morales provides that energy for the team.

The ‘Lords were outgunned, outrunned, and outhustled in their last game versus the Gym Rats. And the Swoosh Bros have a similar style of play with the Gym Rats which can spell trouble for the Lord of the Rings.

The Swoosh Bros had been hitting on all cylinders. Aldwin Brotonel’s farewell tour continues while James Bandolon and Rodfil Camacho continues to control the game from the boards. There is no missing link at the moment for the ‘Bros as the team has ample personnel in each position. Shooting forward Oliver Poblete and the fiery Jun Centeno provides solid contribution off the bench along with Ken Sunga, Ahwin Adricula and Chris Bonabon. But, you can never left out Mico Mercado, who is capable of exploding anytime for the ‘Bros.

Will the LOTR’s be able to bounce or the Swoosh Bros will just run over them?

Tipoff is at 1030am on April 13, 2024.

Sini Gang vs Thundercats

yet another early morning game

The Sini Gang and the Thundercats were the recipients of an early game in the last 3 or 4 weeks. No thanks to the single round-robin generator website. The league tried to revised it but most folks wanted the schedule to stay as it was originally published.

Sini Gang had been on a roll the since opening day. Their trio of Aaron Cua, Michael Humphrey, and Frank Mesa proved to be too much for any team playing against them. Then, they have their second five trio of CJ Pineda, Richard Osay, and Ads Acuna which proved to be as capable as the first three. This team gives opposing teams so much problems. They can lock down the best players while not losing scoring efficiency. Raymund Escarlan, Devan Mesa, and Marc Anorico proved to be capable off the bench relievers. And the newcomer Roman Blas is nothing more than a beast on the boards.

In the last 2 weekends, the Sini Gang were able to slow down CK Arcilla and the Gerard Itao in the last 10 minutes of each game ending up as the victor.

Meanwhile, the ‘Cats are slowly finding their identity as they beat the Soju Bombers last week. Kean Oham led the attack while Rodje Villa, Matea Mandabon run the court with him. Veterans Gil Mandabon, Dennis Villa and James Griffith provided that veteran guidance and the team focused. Ace Sicam also showed some range last weekend as he shot 2 or 3 three pointers and a couple of drives in the lane. Lito Mandabon will most likely suit up this week after he just finished his monthly cruise. Paolo Olea and Tito Galing will most likely provide adequate support off the bench while Phoenix Galing will do some Phoenix stuff on the defensive end.

Tipoff is at 930am on April 13, 2024.
