Track Hawks vs Hustle Gang

smells like teen spirit

Aldrin Acuna continued his hot streak in Week 4 of the DUB League with a monster 23 point performance over the young Track Hawks in a 69-63 victory.

Aldrin had a repeat performance this week after scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds in Week 3. It seems like he is getting his young legs back under him as he dominated the game from midrange to the three point area and in the paint. Meanwhile, Cris Dapon broke out from his shooting slump tallying 11 points with 3 shots coming from the rainbow area. The same goes for Jan Quiocho who seemed to find his range in this game and finished with 9 points. Yuhenyo Giron finished second in scoring with 20 points in this game and had a great time slashing through the Hawks porous zone and transition defense. Claro also had a great defensive game – although we will never know his stats because it was not recorded while Lego just got his cardio for the month.

On the other hand, a lot of good things went for the Track Hawks despite not having Rodje Villa last weekend. Kean Oham led the team in scoring with 22 points followed by CJ Luna’s 17 points. The Hawks were able to stretch the Hustlers with their three pointers but they lacked the inside presence to make a difference in the game. James Griffith scored a fastbreak layup and was fouled. Aden Oham was also a monster in the game with 13 points. Ads Acuna also found his stroke in this game with 9 points while Ryan Luna hit one basket from beyond the arch.

Ruff Ryders vs The Big Chili

too SPICY for the ryders

The Big Chili is still on a roll with a big 68-63 victory over the Juan-less Ryders in Week 4 of The DUB League. Backed by Fred Ganut’s early hot shooting, the Chilis were able to have a cushion early while Ronnie Tallud tried to rally his team with hot shooting of his own in this classic battle.

Number 1 Overall pick Fred Ganut started the game on fire with 6 3 pointers in the first half and finishing with 34 points and 5 rebounds in the game. GJ Eva and Bombi Toves followed in closely with 15 points and 13 points (8 rebounds. 3 assists), respectively. Mitchell Salas also scored 2 points while Gerard Nicasio had 4 points. Roman Blas and John Dahan did  a great defensive job in the paint with 3 rebounds each. Arvin Dela Cruz also notched one rebound for the game.

Meanwhile, the Ruff Ryders were playing without Juan Gutierrez who was hurt in Week 4. Ronnie Tallud finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal to lead the Ryders. Robin Tallud and Mico Mercado finished with 16 points (3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal) and 14 points (4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), respectively. Frankie Mesa also had a great outing with 9 points,5 rebounds, and 3 assists for the Ryders. Rowell Camargo finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assists while Roy Lor had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in his debut with the Ruff Ryders.

Gym Rats vs Team Tigas

no cheese for the rats

Team Tigas laid out the best trap for the Gym Rats – “No Cheese today, Boy!” while cruising to a 66-46 victory behind Michael Humphrey’s 22 points and Kurt Malanas 11 rebounds.

Team Tigas, on paper, has one of the most complete team per position in the league. Michael Humphrey is a phenomenal leader and acts as their spirit guide while Aaron is the number one sniper in the league. CJ Pineda also came in as one of the best players and can be run on 1000HP at any given time. Humph finished this game with 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assists  while CJ Pineda and Andrei Malacapay added 13 points and 15 points respectively. Eddie Sera  and Lorne Pula tallied with 2 points and 4 points while Aaron Cua had a quiet game with 8 points 4 rebounds, 7 assists. Kurt Malana finished with 11 rebounds, 4 assists,  1 block and 4 points.

The Rats had been bugged by injuries and work commitments that they had to acquire Lito Matildo from Swoosh Bros. It did not help much as the Tigas kept that pressure on them. Renz Villanueva finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block while Ja Aloy finished with 20 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist for the game. Ron Acosta had his best game of the season with 8 points and 4 rebounds while Lito Matildo had 4 points and 5 rebounds. JC Cuenca finished with 2 rebounds for the game. Mark Yu also had 2 points and 3 rebounds in his farewell game as he is moving to the West Coast.

Soju Bombers vs Swoosh Bros

White claw can’t save bombers

Swoosh Bros ran full steam ahead vs Soju Bombers in their 62-53 victory in Week 4 of The DUB League.

The Bros ran over the Bombers and left them by the road backed by Rodfil Camacho’s 20 pioints, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists followed by Jimuel Sta. Maria’s 19 points 3 rebounds. Ashten Purcella also had a solid game with 10 points 5 rebounds while Steven and Neil contributed with 5 points a piece. Meanwhile, JR Sunga was having a great time with 3 points while coaching his team. They just traded two players Roy Lor and Lito Matildo to stay lean on the bench.

The Bombers were shooting well but they ran out of ammunition to stop Rodfil from the paint and Jimuel’s fastbreak attack. Dillon Pineda finished with 19 points, 2 rebounds,1 assts, and two steals while Cyrel Legaspi contributed with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal. Gabe Gaw had to pull the monster Gawblin with a strong 10 rebound, 2 assists, and 4 points game. Gerard Itao also found his range in this game with 9 points while Ahwin and Joel finished with 2 points apiece. Jacob Liwanag finished with a silent 4 points on Week 4.
