Recap

Dallas, TX – Arm with the Dallas Version of the “Splash Brothers”‘, Voltes V cruised to a 61 – 46 victory over the Eraserheads.

Aldrin Acuna led the team on defense with 15 points and 4 blocks. The Splash Brothers combined for 38 points with Aldrich scoring 20 points and Aaron tallying 18 points for the game. Ads Acuna was also a workhorse running both ends of the court with 7 points. Popoy Vargas provided the much needed big man presence and energy for the Voltes V team fueling fast break off a defensive rebound.

Meanwhile, the Eraserheads were still trying to get their feet wet and acquainted with their teammates. Neil Bagalso led with 10 points with the rest of the Eraserheads leading a balance attack on on scoring. Mark Anorico and Loven Villanueva scored 9points and 8 points, respectively.

Voltes V will play SemiPro on their next game on September 17th while Eraserheads will take on Dragonball Z.

 

PREVIEW

Voltes V is one of the most popular anime in the 80s. They are composed of five robots combining into one big mean fighting machine. The Voltes V will be composed of their own Big Five – Aldrin Acuna, Aldrich Acuna, Raymund Escarlan, Aaron Cua, and Conrad Wolfe. Aldrin will provide the bully game for this team along with his buddy Conrad Wolfe. Court magician Raymund Escarlan will orchestrate the offense while providing veteran leadership for this team.

Voltes V is also very dangerous from the rainbow territory with 16U/19U standout Aldrich Acuna and Aaron “Mr 3PT Layup” Cua providing the firepower. Completing the team will be Ads Acuna, Ryan Cayabyab, Popoy “The Sailorman” Vargas, Nervin Metrillo, and Jeff Roque.

The Eraserheads is one of the most famous bands in the Philippines. Any 90’s kid can sing and relate to their songs – from barkadahan to hearbreaks to unrequited love. You can bet that the Eraserheads has a song for you.

The Eraserheads will  be lead by the high flying bigman Rommel Calaguas. This 5’10 monster is a natural contortionist and have great body control in the air during a break. He also has a very dangerous 3 point range that can break your hearts when you are trying to catchup.

This team is composed of reliable veterans Mike Beltran and Nilo Concepcion to complete the front court.

Young standout, Richard Osay (ankle injury), is one of the most promising young guns at Harry Stone and will provide the youth and exuberance this team needs along with Kenz Jacob.. Court Maestro Neil Bagalso will be showing off his playmaking skills and 3 point range.

Loven Villanueva, Mark Lim, and Marko Anorico will provide a much needed firepower from the bench.

Which team will be more nostalgic after this game – Eraserheads or Voltes V?
